Hornby Marching Team - The Southerners

We are a marching team and we train at Hornby Primary School on Thursdays at 5pm to 7pm.  Girls with ages ranging from 7 to 16 are involved in this sport.

Marching is a great sport to be involved in, it creates confidence in your child and involves a lot of discipline.  It is also an opportunity to meet other people and get to travel around New Zealand for competitions.

For more information please contact Rita on 3479150.

In December the girls travelled to Nelson to take part in the South island Regional Competitions.  The team won 3rd place in Technical Drill and placed 6th in the Display section at Regionals.

Currently we have a Kiwi Team and an U12 team.  We would also like to have an U16 team.  The marching season runs from October through to March and competitions are held on almost every Sunday except throughout the Christmas holiday period.  If you are interested in joining our team please contact Rita on 3479150.  We will be recruiting in June for the 2011/2012 season and require girls aged between 7 and 16.

We will be competing at Nunweek Park on February 27th and March 13th for those interested who wish to come along and see for themselves what is involved.  For more information contact Rita on 3479150

Our girls took part in the Southern Shield competitions at Timaru in November 2010.  They won 2nd place in Technical Drill.

We travel to other cities around New Zealand for competitions, in particular Southern Shield, Regional and National Competitions.  We stay in motels and the girls are well looked after.
